A character string that optionally may have a code attached. The text must always be present if a code is present. The code is often a local code.

??.??.1 Scope and Usage

This defines a FHIR profile of the HL7 V3 SC data type for CDA itself (the HL7 V3 RIM-based standard). Uses to be evaluated. This is not intended to be part of C-CDA on FHIR but is currently published here until we find a good home for it.
