    The patient is administratively assigned to the location. This usually means that the assigned location is responsible for the patient's overall care.

    The patient is temporarily in a location. For example, they may be assigned to an inpatient bed, but is temporarily in the dialysis department receiving dialysis.

      transienthttp://hl7.org/fhir/subject-locationClassificationTransient

    The geospatial area where the patient is known to be physically present. This area is not necessarily part of the administrative location structure. For example, the patient is in a visiting room, or in the hallway near the vending machine.
