This is a code system defined by the FHIR project.

Version:4.6.0
Name:EventStatus
Title:EventStatus
Definition:

Codes identifying the lifecycle stage of an event.

Source ResourceXML / JSON

This Code system is used in the following value sets:

  • ValueSet: Immunization Status Codes (The value set to instantiate this attribute should be drawn from a terminologically robust code system that consists of or contains concepts to support describing the current status of the administered dose of vaccine.)
  • ValueSet: ProvenanceActivityType (This value set contains representative Activity Type codes, which includes codes from the HL7 DocumentCompletion, ActStatus, and DataOperations code system, W3C PROV-DM and PROV-N concepts and display names, several HL7 Lifecycle Event codes for which there are agreed upon definitions, and non-duplicated codes from the HL7 Security and Privacy Ontology Operations codes.)
  • ValueSet: EventStatus (Codes identifying the lifecycle stage of an event.)
  • ValueSet: Adverse Event Status (Codes identifying the lifecycle stage of an adverse event.)

This code system http://hl7.org/fhir/event-status defines the following codes:

CodeDisplayDefinition
preparation PreparationThe core event has not started yet, but some staging activities have begun (e.g. surgical suite preparation). Preparation stages may be tracked for billing purposes.
in-progress In ProgressThe event is currently occurring.
not-done Not DoneThe event was terminated prior to any activity beyond preparation. I.e. The 'main' activity has not yet begun. The boundary between preparatory and the 'main' activity is context-specific.
on-hold On HoldThe event has been temporarily stopped but is expected to resume in the future.
stopped StoppedThe event was terminated prior to the full completion of the intended activity but after at least some of the 'main' activity (beyond preparation) has occurred.
completed CompletedThe event has now concluded.
entered-in-error Entered in ErrorThis electronic record should never have existed, though it is possible that real-world decisions were based on it. (If real-world activity has occurred, the status should be "stopped" rather than "entered-in-error".).
unknown UnknownThe authoring/source system does not know which of the status values currently applies for this event. Note: This concept is not to be used for "other" - one of the listed statuses is presumed to apply, but the authoring/source system does not know which.

Explanation of the columns that may appear on this page:

LevelA few code lists that FHIR defines are hierarchical - each code is assigned a level. See Code System for further information.
SourceThe source of the definition of the code (when the value set draws in codes defined elsewhere)
CodeThe code (used as the code in the resource instance). If the code is in italics, this indicates that the code is not selectable ('Abstract')
DisplayThe display (used in the display element of a Coding). If there is no display, implementers should not simply display the code, but map the concept into their application
DefinitionAn explanation of the meaning of the concept
CommentsAdditional notes about how to use the code
