This Code system is used in the following value sets:

  • MediaStatus (Codes identifying the stage lifecycle stage of a event)

Codes identifying the stage lifecycle stage of a event

This code system http://hl7.org/fhir/media-status defines the following codes:

CodeDisplayDefinition
preparation PreparationThe core event has not started yet, but some staging activities have begun (e.g. surgical suite preparation). Preparation stages may be tracked for billing purposes.
in-progress In ProgressThe event is currently occurring
not-done Not DoneThe event was terminated prior to any impact on the subject (though preparatory actions may have been taken)
suspended SuspendedThe event has been temporarily stopped but is expected to resume in the future
aborted AbortedThe event was terminated prior to the full completion of the intended actions but after having at least some impact on the subject.
completed CompletedThe event has now concluded
entered-in-error Entered in ErrorThis electronic record should never have existed, though it is possible that real-world decisions were based on it. (If real-world activity has occurred, the status should be "cancelled" rather than "entered-in-error".)
unknown UnknownThe authoring system does not know which of the status values currently applies for this request. Note: This concept is not to be used for "other" - one of the listed statuses is presumed to apply, it's just not known which one.

Explanation of the columns that may appear on this page:

LvlA few code lists that FHIR defines are hierarchical - each code is assigned a level. See Code System for further information.
SourceThe source of the definition of the code (when the value set draws in codes defined elsewhere)
CodeThe code (used as the code in the resource instance). If the code is in italics, this indicates that the code is not selectable ('Abstract')
DisplayThe display (used in the display element of a Coding). If there is no display, implementers should not simply display the code, but map the concept into their application
